Having lived in Colorado for a year and a half, we spent every possible moment uncovering the best hidden gems in the state. We took advantage of every weekend, holiday, and PTO day, exploring nearly every corner of Colorado and loved every minute of it.

Our adventure began on a crisp winter morning as we embarked on a long weekend escape to this hidden gem in Colorado.
Ouray’s downtown, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, greeted us with its historic buildings and quaint atmosphere.
The town’s main draw, however, is its rejuvenating hot springs. After a day of skiing, one of the best ways to unwind and relax is by soaking in the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, surrounded by a blanket of snow, creating a truly enchanting winter experience.
One of the highlights of our trip was the breathtaking drive along the Million Dollar Highway, connecting Ouray to the historic mining town of Silverton.
This stretch of highway, known for its dizzying cliffs and incredible views, provides a mesmerizing journey through the San Juan Mountains.
Taking advantage of Ouray’s strategic location, we decided to embark on a day trip to the renowned ski destination of Telluride.

But, Ouray is also a phenomenal place to visit during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. There are plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy hiking, camping, or the infamous Ouray Via Ferrata.

Our long weekend escape to this enchanting town promised a blend of snowy adventures and soothing relaxation.
After a day of exhilarating skiing, there is nothing like retreating back to the Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s biggest mineral hot springs pool.
The contrast of the warm, steaming waters against the chilly winter air is nothing short of magical.
We loved our time enjoying the Glenwood Hot Springs. The pools are large for many people to enjoy the waters without feeling crowded. Plus, the amenities at the hot springs are top-notch.
Besides the hot springs, it has an adorable historic downtown, adorned with holiday lights, offering a delightful atmosphere for leisurely strolls during the winter months.
Plus, the town is bursting with delicious restaurants, bars, and breweries to try. From cozy mountain bistros to elegant restaurants, each venue presented a unique blend of flavors that reflected the town’s vibrant character.
I highly recommend making your way to the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub for tasty pints of cold beer and delicious bar foods.
The location of Glenwood Springs is truly remarkable, offering a hidden gem experience just a short drive away from Aspen and its ski slopes.
It serves as the perfect getaway, allowing you to unwind and escape the craziness often associated with major ski resorts. At the same time, its close proximity makes day trips to the ski resort effortlessly convenient.
Our winter long weekend in Glenwood Springs was full of alpine adventures, warm relaxation, and the genuine hospitality of a town nestled in the snowy embrace of the Rockies.
However, it’s also a phenomenal place to venture to during the warmer months with plenty of opportunities to go hiking or head to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for a thrilling day of rides and attractions.

Our evenings are often spent exploring Steamboat’s charming downtown. The historic Lincoln Avenue, adorned with lights, invites you to wander through boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes.
Spending a week or weekend in Steamboat Springs is always a magical adventure. Time in Steamboat is a mix between a Western wonderland, where the spirit of the Old West meets the thrill of outdoor recreational activities.
