In fact, the Monticello Wine Trail runs right near Charlottesville, bringing over 40 incredible wineries and vineyards to the area.

Sam and I grew up an hour outside of Charlottesville so we spent many weekends driving up to the wineries and breweries in the surrounding areas.

Charlottesville has a special place in our hearts because it is where we got married at a vineyard in 2020.

The Best Wineries in Charlottesville, VA

1. Mount Ida Reserve Tasting Room & Taphouse

Mount Ida Reserve Tasting Room & Taphouse is by far one of our favorite wineries and vineyards in the area. Afterall, we did get married at their Lodge.

This may make it seem like we are showing favoritism and although we absolutely love Mount Ida because that is where we became husband and wife, their wine and tasting room truly stand out from the crowd.

We love that their Tasting Room & Taphouse is quite small compared to other surrounding vineyards.

This gives you a more local feel and the hospitality is unmatched.

Additionally, the inside of their Tasting Room is full of cozy soft seating that makes you feel at home immediately.

However, the feature that stands out the most is the incredible outdoor patio area.

Grab a glass of chilled white wine or a robust glass of red and head out to their outdoor seating to take in the beautiful mountainous landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains for an experience that you will never forget.

2. Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyard

Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyard is one of the more popular vineyards in the area and is one of the top Charlottesville wineries.

This vineyard is known for their breathtaking Tasting Room that is decorated chicly and elegantly with unbelievable views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

In fact, this is actually where we had our rehearsal dinner at and could not have been more lucky!

This farm and vineyard are truly one of a kind and you are sure to leave with a memorable experience.

Pippin Hill is such a picturesque vineyard right outside of Charlottesville and has some of the best views and wine in the area.

We highly recommend that you book reservations in advance to sit under their covered veranda or in one of their indoor seating options.

Additionally, they have lawn seating that is available for walk-ins but we recommend that you come prepared for a reservation… This vineyard is very popular for a great reason so you do not want to miss it!

Another massively popular vineyard in the Charlottesville area is Trump Winery!

This winery is the largest on the East Coast and one of the best vineyards in Charlottesville.

We know several couples that have gotten married here and each wedding has been truly remarkable and absolutely beautiful.

Between the vineyards, the marvelous buildings on site, and the incredible Taproom… it is truly one a kind.

One of my favorite things about Trump Winery is that they offer Tasting Flights at their Tasting Room.

You can choose from sparkling, white, or red. All of the wines at Trump Winery are truly remarkable and I love that they feature a tasting flight so that you don’t have to pick just one!

We strongly recommend that you get here early so that you can grab a table for a group of under 8 people.

For groups of 8-16, they require a reservation so be sure to keep this in mind when visiting!

Additionally, be sure to check out their patio and lawn for some truly remarkable views of the Trump Winery landscape.

However, depending on the season, they are only open during certain days and times, so be sure to check out their website for more up to date information about their hours of operation.

We love that they have two tasting rooms which allows for more visitors to come enjoy their lovely wine!

Additionally, because there are two tasting rooms, not everyone is forced into one building so the crowds tend to be a little more evened out.

Furthermore, this vineyard offers two seasonal wine flights to choose from along with wine bottles and glasses of wine to pick from.

One thing that we love the most about Jefferson Vineyards is that you can bring your own chair and picnic to set up outside!
