The Best Dog Friendly Things to do in Denver:
1. Cherry Creek State Park Dog Off Leash Area
We absolutely adore this dog park. As the name suggests, this is an off leash dog park so the dogs can roam freely throughout. It is over 100 acres and Clover has the time of her life.
Inside of the park, there are plenty of walking โtrailsโ thatโll take you the length of the park along with various paths so you can cut through or walk as you please. There are several obstacles that dogs can go through and play on including several ramps, a tunnel, and other fun trinkets.
During the winter and spring thereโs even a river/lake area that fills up with the snowmelt and creates an area for the dogs to swim/walk in the water. However, we just recently learned that the water dries up pretty quickly in the summer and now thereโs just sand!
Itโs important to note that this is a State Park so you will have to pay a fee to get into the park and then an additional fee for the DOLA (dog off leash area). We went ahead and paid the annual fee for both so that we can come as much as we want to for a year without having to pay fees every time we show up!
Fees: Itโs $11 per day for a vehicle pass or $83 for an annual affixed pass. For the DOLA, itโs $3 for a daily pass or $25 for the annual pass.
This may seem like a bunch of money but it has been well worth it in our opinion! Cloverโs little face lights up every time she sees where we are headed.
2. Denver Beer Company
Taking Clover with us to breweries is one of our favorite things to do in and around the Denver area. There are countless breweries that have great shaded patio spaces that allow dogs.
Denver Beer Co. is one of our favorite breweries in the Denver metro area to bring our pup because of its large patio space and endless brew options.
3. Zuni Street Brewing Company
Additionally, there are several breweries that actually allow dogs inside of them! This is a great opportunity to get a cold beer and not have to leave your dog at home while doing so.
One of our favorite places that allows dogs inside of the brewery is Zuni Street. Be sure to check in advance if they still allow dogs inside, they did when we visited but rules change from time to time!
4. Hiking
Sam, Clover, and I adore going on day hikes and we love backpacking. Itโs a great way to get outside and enjoy nature while youโre all getting some good exercise in.
Additionally, we always use the AllTrails app in order to find our next new hike. We really love this app because it tells you all the details about countless hikes including its mileage, elevation, how crowded it can get, tells you if the hike is dog friendly, and so many other details.
Once you have picked which trail you are going to explore be sure to wear your favorite hiking socks to prevent blisters so that you have the best time possible on the trails with your furry friend.
Furthermore, we recommend bringing energy bars on your hike so that you can stay happy and healthy while exploring all that Colorado has to offer. Make sure to bring some extra dog treats or peanut butter for your pup to enjoy too!
5. Cherry Creek Trail
We are fortunate enough to live across the road from Cherry Creek Trail. Itโs a 40 mile long trail that leads from downtown Denver all the way to Parker. Youโll see countless joggers, bikers, and dogs walking along the trail. We love the trail because itโs well kept and allows us to walk for as long/short as we want with our pup.
6. Chatfield Dog Park
This dog park is in the Littleton area so itโs just outside of Denver but itโs another great dog park in the area where the pups can be off leash. Thereโs also two big ponds where the dogs can go swimming!
The same rules apply as Cherry Creek State Park Dog Off Leash Area, youโll need to pay a fee to enter the park and an additional fee to bring your pup.
7. Lowry Beer Garden
There are countless restaurants around the metro area and more likely than not, if the restaurant has a patio or outdoor seating, you can usually bring your pup with you!
We hate leaving Clover at home so itโs so nice that Denver has so many outdoor patios and seating options so we can bring her along with us when we grab a bite to eat!
One of our all time favorite dog friendly restaurants/beer gardens is Lowry’s due to their massive outdoor seating area, delicious food, and cool beverages!
8. Washington Park
Sam and I always talk about how we love the countless parks and greenery options that Denver has to offer. It seems like every neighborhood in the metro area has their own park and itโs incredible. These parks have so much to offer including beach volleyball, basketball, tennis courts, paddle boats, and so on depending on which park you visit.
One of our favorite parks in the Denver area is Washington Park due to its great location, dog friendliness, and restaurants and bars nearby!
9. City Park
Another park that we love is City Park! We love parks because they are dog friendly and most people are so kind to pups! Although you canโt take your pup off the leash unless itโs a DOLA (dog off leash area) we love that we can bring Clover and walk around together!
City Park is an awesome park to bring your dog to because of its excellent location near downtown Denver, the Zoo, bars and restaurants and much more.
