Scuba diving is such a unique experience and it’s such an incredible endeavor to embark on with your partner.
Learning how to scuba dive with Sam has created so many new memories for us and helped push us outside our comfort zones together.
Whether you want to get licensed together in Hawaii or just want to go on a discover dive, scuba diving is such a unique date that is sure to be memorable!
2. Go For A Hike In Waimea Canyon State Park
Hiking has always played a tremendous role in Sam and I’s relationship. One of our first dates was spent hiking in Virginia and a year later Sam proposed on a hike!
Hiking is a truly unique date that allows you and your partner to spend some uninterrupted bonding time and to take in nature together. It’s one of the absolute best things to do in Kauai for couples.
One of the best hikes in the area has to be Kukui Trail. This hike is 4.5 miles in length and is considered a hard route.
The views from this trail are absolutely unreal and you must check it out yourself! This trek is a great way to take in the natural beauty of the island of Kauai.
3. Explore A Hidden Beach – One Of The Best Things To Do In Kauai For Free
There are countless beaches in Kauai ranging from popular beaches with hundreds of people to scarce beaches on the side of the road with 1 to 2 people laying out and even beaches that are “hidden” and take a bit of a hike to get to!
Grab your partner and go exploring! Hit a beach without all the tourists and spend some quality time together laying out on the sand, listening to island music, and enjoying the Kauai sun.
One of our favorite “hidden” beaches was Hideaway Beach and we loved that not too many people were there.

We found that many places on the island were only open for lunch or dinner. What better way to take a break from the heat than to go grab a scrumptious bite to eat?

5. Try Something New Together
Sam and I have a lengthy list of hobbies that we enjoy ranging from golf to snow skiing and practically everything in between.
One of the new hobbies that we have gotten into is playing tennis together. It’s fair to say that neither of us are very good yet but we have such a fun time trying and goofing around together.
Grab your partner and try a new hobby together whether it’s golfing, running, tennis, surfing, and the list goes on.
Kauai has such phenomenal weather which makes it an optimal destination to explore new activities outdoors!

If you’re like us, we try to stay away from desserts on a regular basis but on vacation we are all about it.
The dessert choices in Hawaii were unreal and we highly recommend that you grab one of these yummy treats at Wishing Well Shave Ice, JoJo’s Shave Ice, or if you’re looking for a romantic date night in Kauai head to Lava Lava Beach Club for their mouthwatering delicious lava cake.
7. Go On An Ocean Boat Cruise – One Of The Most Romantic Things To Do In Kauai
There are endless boat cruises that take you out on the water and you can choose from a morning cruise or an afternoon cruise in Kauai.
Oftentimes the morning cruises take you out to see the coast and snorkel and the evening cruise might provide some beverages and you watch the sunset while on the boat.

8. Eat A Delicious Dinner
We continue to rave about how delicious and fresh the food was in Kauai. We devoured some poke, shrimp, and acai bowls while on our trip.
One thing that we really enjoyed about Hawaii was that you didn’t feel required to dress up everywhere that you went… oftentimes people just wear their swimsuits and coverups to bars and restaurants! We loved this!
However, in order to make for a special night… why not get a little dressed up and go out for a delicious dinner?
Some of our favorite romantic restaurants in Kauai are Sam’s Oceanview Restaurant, Kalypso Bar and Grill, and Happy Talk Lounge Restaurant and Bar.
9. Snorkel In The Sea At Tunnels Beach
One of our favorite things to do at the beach is to snorkel. We love putting on our masks, fins, and snorkels to go discover some of the tropical fish in the sea.

Some of our favorite snorkeling beaches in Kauai were Hideaway Beach and Tunnels Beach.
Pro Tip: The water is typically calmer in the morning at Hideaway Beach so visibility is much better to see hundreds and hundreds of tropical fish, but in the afternoons as the waves start to pick up sea turtles are very common and will let you swim right next to them while they eat vegetation off of the reef!
10. Go For A Drive
It takes about 3 hours to drive all the way around the island. We know this because, we in fact, drove all the way around the mountain to get to one of our hikes!
Kauai is absolutely breathtaking and I think it’s my favorite mountain range that I have ever seen.
Hop in your car with your significant other, roll down the windows, put on some good music, and take in the scenery!
You’ll pass incredible mountain views, beautiful and vibrant beaches, and many small towns throughout your journey.
If you don’t want to go all the way around the island, you don’t have to but we highly recommend that you go for a drive and just take it in!
Have fun driving around with your partner and maybe even stop at a few unplanned destinations along the way.
