I love watching the NBA playoffs because there’s nothing quite like the excitement of seeing teams battle it out, whether it’s the favored team winning at the last minute or a surprising upset. With the Knicks disappointing many fans recently, I’ve been curious about the NBA Champions from the past decade.

My heart is with Denver sports, especially the Denver Nuggets. My husband and I lived in Denver for around two years and became passionate Nuggets fans, attending a handful of games. I’m really hoping they can pull off a back-to-back win streak this year.

If you’re also interested in the recent NBA Champions, including who won besides the Denver Nuggets last year, keep reading as I dive into the winners from the past decade.

2023: Denver Nuggets

In 2023, the Denver Nuggets were impressive, clinching the Championship after defeating the Miami Heat in a series in which they won four out of five games.

Nikola Jokic, also known as The Joker, is a standout player on the team, known for his dominance on the court. Watching him play live is an incredible experience. Jokic earned the NBA Finals MVP title, and many fans, myself included, are eagerly looking forward to seeing him win it again this year.

2022: Golden State Warriors

It’s likely not surprising that the Golden State Warriors emerged as the champions in 2022, defeating the Boston Celtics in a series where they won 4 out of 6 games.

With their formidable lineup featuring players like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the Warriors have been a force to reckon with in recent years.

However, they didn’t make the playoffs this year, disappointing many fans. There’s hope for a comeback next year, though, as they aim to reclaim their dominance on the court.

2021: Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks team sometimes flies under the radar, except for their dedicated fan base in Wisconsin. However, it’s important to remember that they were crowned NBA Champions in 2021 and are currently contenders for the 2024 Championship.

In 2021, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in a series where they won 4 out of 6 games. Fans are eagerly anticipating another successful run this year, hoping for another championship reign.

2020: Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers often stir strong feelings, with fans either loving or hating them. But you can’t skip over their 2020 NBA Championship win, no matter which side you’re on. With players like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kyle Kuzma leading the charge, they clinched the title that year.

In 2020, the Lakers triumphed over the Miami Heat in a series where they won 4 out of 6 games to take home the Championship.

In 2016, there was a shift in dynamics between the two teams. They exchanged dominance, but in the end, the Cleveland Cavaliers emerged victorious over the Golden State Warriors in a series where Cleveland won 4 out of 7 games.

2015: Golden State Warriors

Are you starting to feel the fatigue from the Golden State Warriors versus Cleveland Cavaliers showdown yet? It all started back in 2015, when the Golden State Warriors claimed victory in a series that saw them win 4 out of 6 games. Fans of both teams witnessed three more years of intense rivalry and title exchanges in the NBA Championship.
