Thailand features a diverse landscape with beautiful beaches, stunning mountains, lively cities, fun islands, and more. While the entire country is gorgeous, some places stand out for perfect photo opportunities.

Before we explore the best photo spots in Thailand, it’s important to note that while these locations are perfect for pictures, it’s crucial to be respectful and dress appropriately. Some of these sites are religious temples, so honoring the local culture, religion, and customs is essential.

With that in mind, here are the most Instagrammable spots in Thailand to make your IG photos extra dreamy and unique.

1. Koh Phi Phi Island Viewpoint

One of my favorite viewpoints in the world is the Koh Phi Phi Island Viewpoint. The hike up is steep, but the surreal island views make it well worth the effort.

My husband and I started the trek early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowds on the trail. When you reach the top, the lush green mountains and turquoise blue waters surrounding the island will blow your mind. It’s a bucket list hike and one of the best spots to capture unforgettable photos!

2. The Grand Palace, Bangkok

As its name suggests, The Grand Palace in Bangkok is truly grand, covering 218,000 square meters. Walking around, you’ll see the palace, administrative buildings, a temple, the Emerald Buddha, and more. The site is incredibly beautiful, with vibrant colors like gold, blue, red, yellow, green, and others. 

It’s a wonderful place to admire craftsmanship, architecture, history, and religion. Plus, the large grounds offer plenty of great photo opportunities with diverse backdrops.

3. Wat Arun, Bangkok

Wat Arun is another stunning Buddhist temple in Bangkok. It’s lovely at sunrise and when lit up at night, but it’s impressive at any time of day.

You’ll be amazed by the intricate architecture, craftsmanship, and vibrant colors. As you walk around, you’ll find many great spots for photos to remember your visit. Be sure to spend some time without your camera, too, so you can fully enjoy the experience.

4. Sky Bar, Bangkok

The Sky Bar in Bangkok is situated on the 63rd floor of one of the tallest buildings in the world, a skyscraper standing at 250 meters tall. Here, you can enjoy cocktails while taking in some of Bangkok’s most breathtaking skyline views. The views are surreal, making for fantastic photos. 

However, the drinks are very expensive, so it’s good to know this in advance.

5. The White Temple, Chiang Rai

The White Temple, located in Chiang Rai, Thailand, lives up to its name with its pristine white architecture. This Buddhist temple is renowned for its bright color. 

Beyond its beauty, it’s an excellent place to stroll around and admire artwork and craftsmanship; it also offers a picturesque setting for capturing great photos.

6. Elephant Sanctuary, Chiang Mai

One of my favorite experiences in Thailand was visiting an Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai. In many parts of the world, elephants are mistreated and exploited for photos, tourist attractions, their tusks, and more. However, these sanctuaries provide a haven for these magnificent creatures. 

You can feed, bathe, walk with, and observe the elephants here. It’s a fantastic experience to get close to these magical animals and learn about the sanctuaries and their efforts to help them. While the visit offers much more than just photo opportunities, it’s also a great place to capture meaningful photos in a compassionate environment.

7. Big Buddha, Phuket

One of the most exciting days we had in Thailand was exploring on Vespas. We decided on a whim to visit a random beach for a few hours and then head up to see Big Buddha. It’s one of my favorite memories because of how enjoyable the day was and the amazing road trip to Big Buddha.

When we arrived at the site, we were amazed by the immense size of Big Buddha and the stunning surroundings. The statue sits majestically atop a hill, offering breathtaking views of the statue and the lush greenery and ocean below. It’s one of the best spots in Thailand for photos and is definitely worth the trip.

8. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Ratchaburi

Thailand is well-known for many things, and one of its standout attractions is the world-famous floating markets, with Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi being a top choice.

As its name suggests, Damnoen Saduak is a lively floating market where locals sell various goods from small boats, including fruits, meats, souvenirs, and more. While it has become quite touristy and items can be pricey due to its popularity, visiting is still a great experience and offers fantastic opportunities for memorable photos.

9. Erawan Falls, Erawan National Park

If you enjoy being surrounded by nature and appreciate stunning green landscapes and beautiful waterfalls, this is the place for you. 

Erawan National Park boasts the renowned Erawan Falls, one of Thailand’s most picturesque waterfalls, and a fantastic spot for capturing beautiful photographs. It offers an ideal escape from the busy urban areas and temples, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature.

10. James Bond Island, Phang Nga Bay

You’ve probably seen photos of striking rocks rising from the sea, covered in greenery, and surrounded by bright blue waters: this is James Bond Island. Its fame comes from its appearance in James Bond films, making it a popular photo spot in Thailand today.

11. Laem Singh Beach, Phuket

Laem Singh Beach is one of my all-time favorite beaches in Thailand and the world. The hike to get there adds to its charm and uniqueness. Tucked away as a hidden gem in Phuket, it offers some of the country’s most secluded and breathtaking views. 

You can relax on its small beach area, sunbathe, and swim in the turquoise blue waters. Offshore, you’ll likely spot some longtail boats, enhancing the scenic beauty and photo opportunities. While the beach is perfect for a relaxing day by the sea, its stunning views also make it an ideal spot for capturing Instagram-worthy photos.

12. Monkey Hill Viewpoint, Phuket

Another highlight of our Thailand trip was hiking up to the Monkey Hill Viewpoint. The walk-up is quite steep and feels like a long journey, but reaching the top is incredibly rewarding. Along the way, you’ll likely encounter a few monkeys, and at the viewpoint, you’ll see countless monkeys roaming freely. It’s a thrilling experience unlike any other.

Remember to keep your valuables secure in a bag because these monkeys are known to grab things like water bottles. We had one monkey snatch a friend’s water bottle and run off with it! Despite this, the experience is incredible and offers plenty of opportunities for amazing photos.
